JOAO SILVEIRA, PHD




From 1995 to 1999 John Gaucho, still known as "Joaozinho", worked as a dancer and one of the choreographers of the international dance group Chaleira Preta, participating in several national and international events such as the season of 96 shows held in 33 cities in the south of France, which included the international folklore festivals of Voiron, Montseveroux and Marseille. During this period he was the choreographer and artistic director of the Grupo de Danças Capitão Rodrigo, leading this group to participate in important events such as the Festival de Dança Interdanza - Asunción- Paraguay.
From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the Capitão Rodrigo Dance Group – Cruz Alta – RS. He performed at festivals and in cities in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, such as Cruz Alta, Passo Fundo, Santa Maria, Santa Bárbara and others. He also participated in the Martin Guemes festival, Córdoba, Argentina, where he received the Malambo champion award.
