The strength of flamenco art inspires a show of instrumental music, singing and dancing.
InFusión - with Uruguayan musician Pablo Vares , Rio de Janeiro actress and singer Letícia Spiller and Rio Grande do Sul tap dancer and researcher João Silveira .
On stage, flamenco music fused with Brazilian music and with choreography and rhythms from the Southern Cone of America. For Pablo, “the fusion between flamenco and the rhythms of the south happens naturally. Musical styles are concepts that do not exist in the world except through the people who perform them. We are a complex conglomerate of experiences that coexist in a constant dialogue within us. The fusion is inevitable.”
Pablo, Letícia and João are inspired by the integration of cultures and knowledge as a form of poetry and expression. “Music, dance and singing are universal inspirations for me. Here, in our InFusión, they are interrelated in a game between three artists who are multiple in art and essence”, says Letícia.
João Silveira, the show’s choreographer and director, is also a researcher at Harvard. For him, “the fusion of rhythms, music and dance, poetry and acting, and art and science make perfect sense in contemporary society.”
Hedra Rockenbach, responsible for stage direction and lighting, created an intimate and informal set design for the show. “We want the audience to feel close to the artists,” says Hedra.
